Fungi and foraging, Heddon Valley, Sunday 8 October, 10.30am-1pm

Fungi come in many shapes, sizes and colours – some very edible, some poisonous. Would you like to learn more? Join fungi & foraging expert Patrick Watts-Mabbott and an Exmoor ranger for a chance to discover how many wild treats you can find in the Heddon Valley at this time of year.

Barton Woodfest, near Watersmeet, Tuesday 24 October, 10am-3pm

Join the Exmoor rangers for this fun autumn event in the woods above Watersmeet. Learn lots of woodland skills, such as green wood working, and have a go at archery, wildlife spotting and other fun activities. Donations welcome.

Brownsham family nature trail, Brownsham near Hartland, 14-29 October, anytime

Can you find the animal clues hidden in the woods? This gentle self-led nature trail starts from the car park at Brownsham, near Hartland Point, and winds through the beautiful woodland. Pick up your trail map for free from the car park.

Family volunteering: bash and burn, Mortehoe, Thursday 26 October, 11am-3pm

Woolsery & District Agricultural Show

Admission – Adults £7, Children £3, under 5’s free

Woolsery & District Agricultural Show
Clovelly Court
Clovelly
Bideford
Devon
EX39 5TA

Telephone:
01409240328

The show has been held annually since 1892, changing from a half day to a whole day about forty years ago, having grown to the major event it is now. The show’s present home is Clovelly Court, which gives it space to accommodate the six horse and numerous livestock rings.

Classes include crafts, cattle and sheep, together with horse and pony competitions. There will be a display of vintage farm machinery, a display of hounds and a sheep tent to see all things sheepish. You’ll find bustling trade stalls offering locally made crafts and food with plenty to interest the children.

It’s a great summer day out for all the family! However, please be aware that the show is on agricultural land. It may be slippery, and it will certainly be uneven, so please be prepared and wear suitable footwear.

The gates open at 9 am and the show culminates with the Parade of Vintage Machinery at 4.30 pm.      See you there!
