Welcome to Autumn.

Still so much to see and do and still so many places to stay. The weather may be getting cooler but the welcome is always warm.

Explore the woods this autumn

Fungi and foraging, Heddon Valley, Sunday 8 October, 10.30am-1pm

Fungi come in many shapes, sizes and colours – some very edible, some poisonous. Would you like to learn more? Join fungi & foraging expert Patrick Watts-Mabbott and an Exmoor ranger for a chance to discover how many wild treats you can find in the Heddon Valley at this time of year.

Barton Woodfest, near Watersmeet, Tuesday 24 October, 10am-3pm

Join the Exmoor rangers for this fun autumn event in the woods above Watersmeet. Learn lots of woodland skills, such as green wood working, and have a go at archery, wildlife spotting and other fun activities. Donations welcome.

Brownsham family nature trail, Brownsham near Hartland, 14-29 October, anytime

Can you find the animal clues hidden in the woods? This gentle self-led nature trail starts from the car park at Brownsham, near Hartland Point, and winds through the beautiful woodland. Pick up your trail map for free from the car park.

Family volunteering: bash and burn, Mortehoe, Thursday 26 October, 11am-3pm

Bring all the family for some free outdoor fun. Help the rangers cut and burn gorse bushes at Mortehoe and then toast some delicious marshmallows. Tools and training provided by our Rangers to ensure that you have fun in a safe environment. Suitable for children age five and above.
